Hi I’m Whitney. I’m not a blogger.

Welcome to What Whitney Cooks. Let’s get this out of the way right up front. I’m not a blogger, I’m not a story teller. Long form writing is not my vibe. Nothing made me more anxious at all levels of school than an essay question on a test. I love to read, I love to talk, I love to share…but pls don’t make me write a paragraph. Even this is getting a little lengthy for my comfort.

I AM a foodie. I know, the word is so overused it’s lost all meaning. But I do truly love food. Cooking, scrolling through recipe inspo, reading a cookbook, talking to chefs, watching Food Network..and obviously, eating. Don’t tell me you don’t know how to cook…I’ll try to teach you. I’m evangelistic, borderline aggressive. I am who I am, okay?

WWC has one simple goal: to bring a little joy and every day gourmet to your life!

This is 39.

As we’ve established, long form writing isn’t my thing. Apparently, neither is quick website building. I dreamed up this project 3+ years ago and am woefully behind schedule. That said, I also promised myself this would be fun and creative, and not a chore, so I try not to feel guilty for being behind some imaginary timeline. Maybe by 40 I’ll be finished…

Yesterday I turned 39. In food related birthday celebrations, I visited a place called Board in Birmingham that I’ve never been to-SUPER cool concept. Charcuterie meets Chipotle. They had all the yummiest, bougiest accoutrements to accompany the cheese that make an at-home board start increasing in cost quickly. I also was gifted the 2019 Half Baked Harvest cookbook called Super Simple. Already made one recipe-Veggie Loaded Pad See Ew- and I can tell this book is an absolute banger.
